The rites of sacrifice is a great symbol of Islam, which should be upheld and honoured. It is not only a form of worship that brings rewards, but it also serves as a field of education in forming praiseworthy qualities and instilling noble Islamic values in oneself. The law of performing rites of sacrifice is Sunnah Muakkadah, which is a highly commendable in Islam. The matter was among those included in the Friday Sermon titled 'Mendidik Jiwa Melalui Ibadah Korban'. The imam also emphasised among the praiseworthy attitudes that can be formed through rites of sacrifice.
First, cultivate sincerity in performing every act of worship prescribed by Islamic Law. Sincerity is an important basis in ensuring that a practice is accepted by Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. Second, instil an attitude of gratitude for all blessings bestowed. One of the wisdoms of the Syariah of sacrifice is to express gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for the blessings of life and the sustenance bestowed upon us. Third, train oneself to always be patient in facing life's tests and challenges and fourthly, cultivate compassion and a spirit of mutual help towards the less fortunate.
